I think the character here is so mentally broken and unstable that he starts to have visions of death; as if the love he lost is so unbearable. TYhen he hallucinates a vision of her in bed, and this is his moment to try and reconcile his mistake (He brings up a mistake he made in the relationship which caused the breakup in the song Porcelain). The sky is breaking symbolizing that his own world is breaking and this is his last chance to get her back, eventhough she doesn't exist. I almost want to say that this takes place quite a bit in the future where he is much older and closer to death, because right after this song is My Weakness which is the death of the narrator. Although it could be during the timespan since Honey (when he had his Love) and that losing his love is so overbearing that it killed him. I knew a grandfather who lost his high school sweetheart, doctors couldn't diagnose a cause besides natural occruences, but we all figured he died from a broken heart.

The opener to an album that finds Moby going through heartbreak. This might be the only song on the album with some sort of joy for the narrator, for he has his baby for now...until he loses her, which then he tries to "find my baby". It's interesting to note that the album opener doesn't fade into the song, it cuts right into the main piece which makes sense conceptually because we already find our character in love with his baby with no exposition.

For me the title "Porclein" means that the narrator of this song is porclein hismelf, and has been broken due to the loss of a significant other that he made a mistake which effectively ended the relationship.

For me its like it's traveling into a soul of a man who has been broken hearted. All that's left is nothing, as told by the ambience in the background. His heart is still beating though, signified by the drums, and the piano represents tears of sadness. Gorgeous song btw.

I think this song represents a character trying to find the love of his life before his own life is over. Love the layering Moby uses in this song.
