I was listening to this song a few days ago and I thought about the lyrics and dissected almost each line and it made me LOVE this song like 10x more. i'm thinking this song is about influencing someone. here's my take on it. "You play my nerves like strings, all upside down." In this line I think of a marionette puppet who is being controlled by someone or something evil. try to keep straight... my limbs are bonding now." They're trying to break out of it but slowly they're settling down and getting used to it "Since a few aprils ago, endless chase to send away this..." They're trying to get rid of what has been instilled in them. "tireless persistence of taste" dunno about this line. "With a touch of your words I saw the devil sneak between my fingers (it's much too familiar) With a touch of your words I've learned to reverse. It's gotten me nowhere..." maybe they try to avoid this person, but as soon as they let them back in, they go back to their old ways. They end up right back where they started. "A deep shade of horizon gold... the constellations remind me I am home." someone who really knows you reminds you that this is not you and snaps you out of it. "We were lit from the west, our silhouettes, yet a sight of industrial-ness" as the silence wins over every word." the evil/influential person was summoned to influence you with their industrial-ness (the definition of industry that i thought fit best - the people or companies engaged in a particular kind of commercial enterprise. commercial people use advertisements to make you want to buy what they're selling.) You're speechless at how go the offer sounds, how could you pass it up? "What am I supposed to think about wondering round inside out...?" the person being influenced doesn't even know what to think anymore because they aren't themselves anymore "Patterns don't feel right," this line kinda speaks for itself. what the person being influenced is doing doesn't feel right. "still speaking like you know what I'm all about." not sure about this one either haha. well that's what i got out of the song. the reason i love VE so much is because you really have to decode the words and lyrics. ps. i know the 1st and 2nd persons or whatever are all wrong and the "they's" are confusing but english is not my best subject and it's 2:30am and i did not feel like putting person 1 person 2 blah blah blah. i wanted to write this all out while it was fresh in my mind. |
