Actually I think this song is about a guy she's known for a long time who went away for a while. When he away though she found someone else and now that person is her new boyfriend. But then the old guy comes back in the picture and now he knows he loves her but it's too late because she's with someone else. Only she doesn't know that the boy she's always loved loves her now too. I remember when my heart caught the fever You were standing all alone in the summer heat [[ He's been away for enough of a time for her to think she's gotten over him but he's come back and she sees him standing there alone]] I was with my boyfriend, my new boyfriend He was as sweet as he could be [[ She now has a new boyfriend and he's a real sweetheart]] One look at you and I was through My heart switched up on me [[ But as soon as she saw him standing there all the old feelings came back and she knows she still loves him.
