Almost definitely not what it means but it gives something to relate to. He wants to find love before he dies. "give me something" There are plenty of short term relationships which mean nothing. "the love spent here, as I had feared, means nothing dear" Blood means love. "get the blood out" He can't love because of himself "bound by this flesh I own" He can't stop doing this.
