Okay first off, Love this song!!! My take on it is that its about a guy who has broken up with his girlfriend, and obviously still has feelings for her. I think the part about "Now I'm falling asleep, And she's calling a cab" is about him just hooking up with someone he doesn't really care about in an effort to forget her. Then where it says "While he's having a smoke, And she's taking a drag" is about what he believes his girlfriend is doing at the same time with another guy. The word "While" signifying it is about his ex, and not him. It then goes on to what he imagines they're doing with the lines "Now they're going to bed, And my stomach is sick, And it's all in my head". Obviously, the next few lines are about his jealous about her moving on, but i'm not sure what to make of the chorus. |

I agree with the other comment, but to elaborate on that, i see this song as someone thinking they're too damaged for a relationship and wanting the other person should stay away from them for their own good. Where it says "flutter me by, kick a little glitter into the sky, spark up the stars leave alone my heart" i think its saying that the other person is too good for them "i'm trying to be good by you alright, alright" and they're saying it to be good to the other person |
