This song for me is clearly a point of view of the situation of the world where the mobs are stronger day by day, they have scary amounts of money, they have planes, soldiers, weapons... they have armies, and influence, and this is just getting worse... |

This is not just for you but for everyone else in this forum, i think you totally misundertood this song.
Let's get in context, remember this is a song about a hero (human or maybe cyborg) who is making a revolt against the Machine who have taken control over the world, something very similar to Terminator's story, in the preceding song H-K (Hunter-Killer) the Machine has started a manhunt aginst our hero, in the following song he is in agony, but, what happened in between? well there goes what i think, the Machine agents hunts him, and shot him down, and in Pisschrist he is in rage against God because God abandoned him, he got shoot and if he dies revolution dies too, so at the beggining of this song he is questioning God for letting revolution and humans, his believers, die.
at this point he begins to die "I'm reaching out/With sealed eyesI grab for light/Visions decried" i think he is talking about the "light-at-the-end-of-a-tunnel" very common in near-death experiences, then he says "Face down, arms out/Nailed to the cross of doubt/Blood runs like rain/Drowning for this world in vain" he probably got shot in the back and fell face down to earth, he know he is dying and his sacrifice will be forgotten, will be in vain, so himself o the agents of the Machine asks "Where is your savior now?"
In the following song he has lost a lot of blood and is running out of forces, so he can't think about rage but he accept he will die here.
Remember the songs of Demanufacture tell a story, that's why this is a Concept Album.

Also the "chair" could be the one behind the altar, where the priest sits. I think this could be not about the pope but about a priest which dissapointed one of the band members in some way, therefore making him kind of raging against religion.
You could see something more about that in Invisible, in the same album. |
