| Rage Against the Machine – Down Rodeo Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
For those who aren't aware, the "Rodeo" referred to in the song is "Rodeo Drive" which is a street in California lined with luxury shops where the very wealthy go. Knowing that, and other lines of the song, the meaning is about consumerism and materialism and how people care more about the items they have than real things that matter such as politics and humanitarian issues. The part about "brown skinned man..." is about how many of the wealthy live sheltered lives and have very sheltered views and have not experienced hardships that others have. In the context of the song, the person is trying to get people to realize there is more to life than money and make people aware of what is happening in the world. "Rollin down Rodeo with a shotgun" does not mean he is trying to kill the people there, it is a figurative term. The "shotgun" is the message he is conveying and is his weapon of choice. |

| Hinder – Striptease Lyrics | 13 years ago |

The song is about when Hinder was on tour with Motley Crue and is aimed specifically at Nikki Sixx. Godsmack also released 'Cryin like a Bitch', which is about Nikki Sixx as well. |

| Brad Paisley – Whiskey Lullaby Lyrics | 13 years ago |

All the writers did here was make the song more palatable by changing the word "gun" to "bottle". Definitely a sad love song |

| Im gonna take a stab in the dark here, but I think this song is about someone he hates??? | |
| In Flames – The Attic Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Going off the lyrics, it seems to be about a man who is having split personality/schizophrenia issues that eventually kills himself. Although, it could be about a person who is possessed as well. Im guessing "the attic" is a metaphor for his mind There is someone in the attic (theres someone in my mind) Building a strange machine (doing something strange) Never really seen him (i've never seen him) But I think he works all day (but he's always there) Blinded by the world outside (im tired of the world) I stay inside (ive become secluded) Hardly know my name (im forgetting who I really am) But it's getting better by time (delusion is a good feeling though) I saw something in the mirror (i saw the other me) Someone's watching me (he's watching me) If I hide in the attic (if i pretend he doesnt exist) He will never get to me (he wont get me) I found some rope on the floor (I found rope on the floor) I have to build a trap (im going to get him) So I started on my machine (i started my plan) I am never to be seen (and killed myself) |

| Disturbed – Another Way to Die Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Such simple minds: the song is metaphor of Disturbed and their fears that they will fade into obscurity like most other metal bands. The time bomb is ticking And no one is listening. Our future is fading Is there any hope we'll survive? Still, we ravage the world that we love And the millions cry out to be saved Our endless maniacal appetite Left us with another way to die ...case in point. |

| In Flames – Alias Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
While I say this with almost every song--that it has multiple meanings--personally, I feel this song is more about a sociopathic personality/person. I put my interpretation of each line in parenthesis The serpent knows, (the sociopath knows) When the curtain falls, (when he's been caught) In denials blindfold, (he lives every day in a constant denial) It greets another day (yet he starts a new day) Dont believe the mask (dont believe the sociopath's "mask") It adapts to any lie, (it adapts to any lie) The perfect ten, (life is going perfect for the victim) When reality caves in (until they realize the truth) Dont tell me, (the sociopath will deny hes done anything wrong) Tell my ghost, (he will say it is his "ghost" or alter ego) Cause I blame him (the sociopath wont take responsibility for his actions) For all I dont want to know (the sociopath doesnt care to know hes done wrong) I found secrets about life's undertow (the sociopath found out how to deceive people: an "undertow" of society) Life's wrapped in a riddle, (life is complex) Easier said than done, (changing his ways are easier said than done) Hate to play the victim, (he doesnt like to play the victim, he would rather be in control) Rather run and hide. (a warning to people to run and hide from him) I found secrets about life untold, (hes reiterating that he found out how to manipulate people) Let them take me far away (he will use those "talents" to guide him through life) Crawl back in place, (the sociopath will go back to his "Safe place") It's easier to cope behind the curtain, (he cannot handle rejections well and will use his "alter ego" to shield people from the real him) Wipe the worries away (he doesnt want to worry anymore) No thought about consequence (he doesnt care who he hurts or affects) ...ive done alot of studying on sociopaths/psychopaths and this song describles the emotional life of one perfectly. Alot of times sociopaths/psychopaths realize they are doing wrong, but are incapable (due to underlying mental illnesses and lack of any real treatment) to stop their actions. I think this song is almost sort of a "manual" of how a socio/psychopath thinks. Either way, great song |

| Avenged Sevenfold – Nightmare Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
While I think the song (as with 99% of all songs) has many meanings, the first time I heard it/read the lyrics, it comes off as more of a political song. Nightmare the CD had some political represenations in it (Danger Line, etc) and I think this song shows that the choices we make, we have to live with. That people today go against the will of God and will have to endure the consequences of war, etc. But once again, it also goes with drugs, choices, etc, so take it how you want to basically. |

| Unearth – This Time Was Mine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think the song speaks about someone who is dying (probably from a terminal disease), and their feelings about life, as evidenced from the second to last line of the song: "free from this disease, farewell i'll miss you all" The line: "Rebel-my only way to avoid your sympathy" in the first verse shows the person doesnt want anyone to feel sorry or take pity on them "the roads not long-at least i have tonight" shows the person feels they are only a short way away from dying, and is happy they are able to live another day ("at least I have tonight") The second verse talks about how other people with the same disease react: "Cower-some hide in fear, controlled by ignorance/Eyes closed-the cruelest site for those to see" ...the rest of the song just talks about the person saying theyve lived a full life and remembers their dad, brother and son IMO, Unearth's best song |
