Eric Clapton – Running On Faith Lyrics 12 years ago
I just turned 30 years old, and have a memory behind most of his songs. My father and my uncle listened to this song and many others on the Unplugged album ALL the time. I was young, and of course didn't realize the value behind heartfelt lyrics and the power they have to reach out to someone and make them feel less alone. At that point in my youth, my family was going through a hard time, but I don't remember the details about those hard times as much as I remember so many times in the car with those two singing and talking about music.
Now that I'm not a kid, I relish this song so much and I understand the heartbreak behind it. It doesn't have to translate exactly as a love song.. it could be about any type of heartbreak. Right now, my house is being foreclosed because I got very sick, couldn't work, and had to go through chemo treatments. The disease ruined my chances of a career, having children, a home my husband and I worked hard for, and it stole years of my life I cannot get back. I had to learn to just let go of the bitterness and salvage my joy. Create new dreams with the person I love and stay thankful for all of the people in my life who I hold dear. So, ...we go running on faith.
Also, to this day, my uncle doesn't send a letter or email without the salutation "Running on faith." before his signature.

Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Lyrics 15 years ago
I love a good analogy..

Saying this song is about getting stoned is like saying "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears is about domestic violence. haha

You could make a lot of songs mean different things if you take them out of context.

Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 Lyrics 15 years ago
If Dylan read these comments I think he would be highly amused.
First, he knew two groups of people would take the lyrics and directly correlate them with drug use and one group would see the "big picture".
Group one - Those who judged beatnicks, hippies, and "long hairs" in the 60's and without knowing them, dubbed them as stoners.
Group two - Stoners. They equate anything and everything with getting stoned. They see the obvioius connotation and run with it without taking the time to actually listen to the lyrics.
Group three - Those who see the big picture. They acknowledge the direct connotation with drug culture and getting "stoned" and probably smoke themselves, but they know the song was about much much more than that. Dylan didn't make music so people could pass a joint to the rhythm.

But, he knew what he was doing when he wrote this song. So, interpret what you will. It was expected.

Katy Perry – Teenage Dream Lyrics 15 years ago
I haven't been too impressed with Katy Perry until I found myself singing this song one day. Then the next day.. then the next... haha.
It stuck with me and I was actually pleasantly surprised after I saw her sing it on SNL. It sounded just as good as the studio and even better in some parts. It's a cute song and makes me think of my husband.

As to the song reminding me of teenage sex.. it never did until I read these ludicrous reviews. NEWSFLASH: Teenagers have been having sex for a LOOOONG time. I had sex when I was in my teens (granted not very good sex, but still, sex) and the "teenage dream" for a girl is the fluttery feeling in her heart with her first love. Teenage dream for a boy.. just to be with a gorgeous girl and then probably sex would come into play. lol
