| ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Isis Unveiled Lyrics
| 15 years ago

Conrad Keely once said:
"Isis Unveiled is a heady topic. It’s a summary of the whole Biblical story from an agnostic Christian point of view but also from the point of view of an early Christian sect that believed there were two great Gods in the Bible. There was the Old Testament God and then there was the God of Christ who overthrew the Old Testament God, which I guess was their way of explaining why there was such a difference in the way that God was portrayed in both. It was difficult to come up with lyrics for that because the music was so intense, they had to be appropriately apoplectic."
And I once said:
"God does not exist."

Wish they played "Of Darkness Spawned" live instead of "Black Valor." Lots of fun anyway...don't get to scream, "Christian blood will soak these battlefields!" in public that often! |

I don't see how people can be religious after reading The Bible. The first time I read it, I was like, "What the--? This crazy nonsense is supposed to have ACTUALLY HAPPENED??"

"The Bible's blind, the Torah's deaf, the Qur'an is mute / If you burned them all together you'd be close to the truth"
Mmmmm....so simple and clever. Should've used it as my senior quote! |

It damn right better be "I take a sword in my hand and climb up a mountain" because that's the line that inspired me to ditch all of my university classes one day and climb up a nearby mountain.
Thanks for the correction, UBER GEEK!

Always think of Birdy's little ghost story whenever this song plays. I also think of my favorite stretch of rocky seaside and crashing waves with the ocean fog wrapping around everything...like GHOSTS! Also, Birdy's notes thankfully make the line "Figure in the sky" atheist-accessible.

| ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead – Crowning Of A Heart Lyrics

This song is actually based around Elena Milagro de Hoyos, who's dead corpse was stolen and kept by German radiologist Carl Tanzler in the 1930s. That's why this EP is called "The Secret of Elena's Tomb" and the artwork depicts Elena and Tanzler (on the back). In that case, this song might be about Carl driving the dead, catatonic body around (which he had stuffed full of preservatives, wax and plaster). But since the song mentions London, maybe Conrad is using this scenario as a metaphor for a night out he had.
Still...one of my favorite Trail of Dead songs! |

| The Radio Dept. – You Stopped Making Sense Lyrics

The Radio Dept was my favorite band, and after this song, they're TOTALLY my favorite band! There's nothing really obscure about this song....whenever someone you love slips into madness, you gotta fight to drag them back out!
