anyone else think that he said "squeezing tangerines" as an allusion to 'lucy in the sky with diamonds' where the lyric is, "tangerine trees and marmalade skies" ? I think it is about tripping on LSD, but who knows. Great song regardless. |

To me, this song is clearly about overcoming drug addiction, specifically painkillers (heroin, oxycodone, etc) "all of my thoughts are from a foreign host" - cravings for drugs aren't thoughts one would normally have "I'm only poisoning you, not going to stab you" - not going to stab himself but will treat himself poorly due to consuming drugs. "I must nod" - when you take get high on opiates you nod in and out of consciousness -> "This fractured consciousness, This soft abuse" "The identity I composed out of terror has become oppressive now" - using drugs went from fun to an addiction and now it's "oppressive" I could be wrong but this is how I interpret it. |
