Everything Everything – MY KZ. UR BF Lyrics 15 years ago
The song starts out describing as a man is standing in a blown-out apartment (or pub according to their video). A flashback starts when the verse begins. The man remembers walking into an apartment (or pub) and seeing the girl he’s been with, but she’s with her boyfriend. (The man reflects during this flashback how minute such a thing is in the grand scheme of things, despite how important that moment seemed to him when it happened) A fight erupted and the boyfriend hits the man with a chair. Then an explosion occurs. A bomb goes off and blows everyone and everything through the windows of the apartment (or pub). The boyfriend who was fighting the man earlier pushes him away from the epicenter of the explosion, saving his life. In the catastrophe, their dispute no longer mattered. It was about then about life. The girl survives as well and throws the man the keys to his car as her boyfriend lays on the hood, severed with his knees broken the other way, dying. He sacrificed himself to save the man he was ready to kill just minutes before. All of a sudden, the disgustingly futile little dramatic problems of relationships become so minute. This song is about how teenagers of the Western world are so caught up in their relationships and personal drama, despite the atrocities happening across the world. The two worlds collide and the man realizes that it’s like he’s been living in a barricaded vault that has separated him from the rest of the world, and as he’s in there, the lights outside of this secure vault go out. The world is full of destruction and horror, and so many of us spend our time fighting over relationships and material goods. This song is about looking beyond yourself and your petty problems, because people are going hungry, suffering, and dying while you complain that your girlfriend cheated on you. The song ends with the man going back to what’s left of the apartment (or pub) and seeing things differently, seeing barbed wire in the bathroom, crosshairs on the kitchen sink. He hasn’t been able to make new memories since, because all he can think about are the destructive things and the bigger picture of human suffering. It’s a mortal thing to suffer and cause pain, but that doesn’t mean we should just ignore it as if it isn’t happening right outside our apartment window.

This is what I’ve gathered from listening to the song, watching the music video, and searching for any other sentence that exists that might shed light on the subject matter. Enjoy or debate.
