THESE ARE THE LYRICS: I have made a number of corrections. I had no cares in the 1990's, I knew of no downfalls, Though war was breaking out all around me, My concerns were with prank calls. She kissed me on the cheek, She kissed me on the cheek, Right in front of the older kids, But my self belief, my self belief, Wasn't scarred by the modern itch. Cause now it feels like, We kiss with one eye on our T.V. set, And the more I give, the less I get, Needing fairground rides just to spark her smile, There's little here to miss, Bring back 1996 Bring back 1996, So hard to beat those teenage kicks, Bring back 1996. We were cloning sheep in the 1990s, We were building telescopes, And sugar filled the whole of my body, As I urged it on to grow. I kissed her on the cheek, I kissed her on the cheek, Just to impress the older kids, But my self belief, my self belief, Wasn't lost in the modern glitch. Cause now it feels like, We kiss with one eye on our T.V. set, And the more I give, the less I get, Needing fairground rides just to spark her smile, There's little here to miss, Bring back 1996, Bring back 1996. Stop talking, stop talking, I need a lover, not a friend tonight, I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm not cut out for the modern life. I'll never beat those teenage kicks. Only thing I'm not too sure about is the A/HER smile part. I'll check in the album booklet when I get home. :) |

| Kings of Leon – Pyro Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Sorry but I think you're all wrong about what the song is about. Kings Of Leon were in Victoria, Australia during the some of the most devastating bushfires this country has seen - they even went on to play at a charity concert for the victims of the bushfires. Anyway, apparently this song was written about the bushfires here. That's what I heard anyway. I think it makes more sense too. | |

| The Script – If You Ever Come Back Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's about a break up and wanting to be back together with that person, even if it still means being trapped in that hell that is the ending of a relationship - he's willing to put up with her giving him the cold shoulder, a hard time, and actually being able to wish the relationship was over. He's willing to suffer through it if it means he is with her again. Despite how she has treated him and how the relationship crumbled, he still leaves his door open to her if she does ever decide to come back. He will keep everything the same for her and they can pretend that nothing's happened and go back to normal. He's so desperate for her to just come home and return to him and the relationship. People are telling him that she isn't going to come back but is in somewhat of a denial, refusing to believe a word of it, saying that 'they used to say the world was flat but how wrong was that now', hoping his friends are wrong too. It's a track about ending something with someone really special to you and still wanting to be with them - doing anything in your power to get them back. For me this is another favourite - and in many ways seems like the sequel to 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved'. |

This was an instant favourite for me. It took a few listens for me to absolutely adore this album, but I do. Can't stop listening to it now. And this song is definitely a highlight and a favourite. It's pretty clear what it is about. Heartbreaking track about the end of a relationship where the singer is left broken hearted and obviously desires to continue the relationship. His mates take him out for a night on the town, presumably of heavy drinking to help him get over her, but this doesn't help. Even though his friends say he is better off without her, he still wants her to take him back. He drunk calls her and even rocks up to her door drunk, so she can see what a mess he is and hopefully because of this and his declaration of love, will take him back. He still loves her, but she doesn't and this is evident from the 'She said nothing. I wanted words but all I heard was nothing'. Which ultimately ends up as the singers cry of 'I got nothing', stating that the end of the relationship is also the end of his world metaphorically. He is left empty handed, heartbroken and still in love. I think they will release this one. It's an incredibly emotional track that I think many people can relate to. The Script are wonderful. All's hoping they continue to release amazing tracks like this one. |
