| The Teenagers – Homecoming Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think you, and most of the people here are missing the point of the song. It is a satire of how boys and girls discuss a relationship. Obviously the guy is a douche, but a lot of guys are when they are with other guys, we like to brag, and since there aren't any girls to judge us we can get crass. As for the "[Making] fun of Americans:" Yeah this is a European band, but they have stereotypes about us just like we have stereotypes about them. I mean really, look the band up, its three guys who originally formed as a joke. None of their other songs sound like this one. Like you, I don't agree with what they are saying, but I like it as a joke. Maybe since you are girl you don't get it, but as a guy, I can laugh at it because, well these conversations happen, its just guy humor. | |
| Drop Nineteens – Winona Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I like the interpretation but this was the 90s back when indie was different than it was today. | |
| Slowdive – Souvlaki Space Station Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The second I looked at the lyrics I knew they were wrong, thank you, and everyone else who has posted the correction. | |
| Animal Collective – Did You See the Words Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| No matter what it means, it really is a feel god song, especially when he says "a kiss goodnight" | |
| Animal Collective – Fickle Cycle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I just went on the their site and looked it up. the lyrics are: Tykes who feast but do not pray Sun dried cheeks and sun dyed grains Spilled in the house that they leave like geese Travel in the night like a pearl thief Believe in ghosts and set them free Bury your heart, don’t shake that sheet Give your teeth to the crocodile cave Under my wings and on my head Twisting heads with the sounds of change Change so often they’ll be dead Kissing the people that you’ll all burn Trusting your friends without thinking best Leaving yourself to kill your grief Rooms can be lonely, but that don’t mean I want a son who can float and fly I’ll take a daughter who laughs and cries When you are home you can do as you please Some have homes in falling trees One day our homes will all fall down One day your body will be in the ground When I wonder I often sit wondering, my brain gets so delirious When I wonder When ghosts from other places come and meet me do I know that they’re a friend? When I wonder I often sit wondering, my brain gets so delirious When I wonder When ghosts from other places come and meet me do I know that they’re a friend? Time to feast, don’t wait to play ? Off in the dust where they feel like kings Some got hurt and some did sing I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder Who will win? I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder Wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder Who will win? Bad feelings I know Good silence means we’re home |

| Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| God damn! I used to think that The Suburbs was their best album, but this just shot Funeral way up there. A quintessential Arcade Fire song. So romantic and ecstatic | |
| Arcade Fire – Modern Man Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I feel like it is about the singer knowing that he has screwed up his life in someway but he has accepted that he cannot change it. He seems to know that the only solution is to do better from then on. It definitely seems like the singer is in his middle ages. | |
| Chris and Thomas – Take These Thoughts Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I am kind of getting the vibe of a bit of homosexuality, at least in the first verse. He seems to be saying that the way he feels isn't allowed. The rest is pretty clear that who ever this is to, guy or girl, they do not share the feelings | |
| Bon Iver – Michicant Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The song is not about coke, powdered face whatever that is a really shallow interpretation. The veins are probably a reference to blood, and more so to the heart. From the sound at the end, there was some sex. Probably the virginity. | |
| Animal Collective – Banshee Beat Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song, to me, seems to be about his girlfriend leaving him for a past lover, especially when he says "You forgot about the things that he could say like,I dont think that I like you anymore." He did not leave her, from the secret face, and the failure of the dictionary shows that he lost to the other man. I think the main focus is on the singer turning to alcohol. He says this with the mention of the water glass, what holds more than a shot glass? A water glass sure as hell does. | |
| Animal Collective – The Purple Bottle Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Creepily, this song is like the perfect fit at the moment. I was crushing on this girl for a long time and we just started a relationship. This song is totally about things like this. |
|
| Vampire Weekend – M79 Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think it could be about Manhattan too. But also there are parts that make me think it is also a tribute to soldiers when it mentions the Khyber Pass, and the m79 is a fucking big gun to have, and it is commonly carried towards the back of the platoon or group of soldiers which would explain the backseat part. | |
| The Dodos – Sleep Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
At the end of the chorus it seems like they mean to be saying something more, especially the way it abruptly ends the first time. I think this is supposed to indicate him trying to tell some one that he loves them but he is too shy to say it. |

| The Decemberists – This Is Why We Fight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I am almost certain this song is about fighting for gay rights. Especially since it is talking about fighting such a large war for the love. | |
| They Might Be Giants – Dr Worm Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Anyways it doesn't matter what it means, the bass solo is fucking so much fun to play | |
| They Might Be Giants – Dr Worm Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| If this song does have a meaning, I think it is about trying to be noticed by others. | |
| Oren Lavie – Her Morning Elegance Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I actually think this song is about a narcoleptic. | |
| The Cure – Lullaby Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I see this as a representation of the Gothic movement of American Romanticism. When I watched the music video I saw a lot of the overarching themes from the movement. It's pretty cool actually. For instance, the part where he is being eaten there is a certain suggestion to sexual feelings with fits with the Gothic idea that there is a certain ecstasy in terror. | |
| The Shins – Black Wave Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Last night I tried to interpret all of the metaphors in this song, obviously its about the boy ending the relationship and regretting it. "This goose is cooked, these tongues are tied," shows that it is all done and no one can say anything to change that. I have no fucking clue about the next line, after that "but looking on the brighter side, there is far less to which I'd be obliged." shows that among his remorse the boy does feel a bit of freedom and is trying to convince himself that the freedom is a lot more than it is. The meadow is the happy world he is in and the black breeze is the grief darkening this place with the knowledge he has done wrong. The aching tone is what people around him sense as he is trying to convince himself. "Through the water, through the chill your bones" shows that the boy can't shake this feeling of cold emptiness no matter where he is or what he does. The ending is him trying to convince himself again and again. | |
| The Shins – Sleeping Lessons Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think he is talking to his daughter telling her how he loves her but that she needs to start deciding on her own, hence the "if the old gods offend" and then also how she needs to understand that growing up means excepting things as they are even if she doesn't like them: "swallow everything you despise." | |
| Small Black – Despicable Dogs Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| dude its dog everywhere you put duck, why else would it be called despicable dogs? | |
