i love this song <3 the girl in she falls asleep kills herself because of an (ex)boyfriend, and this song is told from his point of view about a year on. he thinks to himself how he could have predicted it ("I'm starting to remember things that you said, I'm unravelling what they meant"). he wont let anyone tell him that it was his fault ("I face accusations, I won't run") and hes still "haunted" by her. i agree with everyone that he has turned to alcoholism in attempt to forget her (the obvious "down goes another one"). i have to say though, i think the most powerful line in the whole song is "Do my tears feel like raindrops through the mud?" because it feels like he is actually trying to talk to her, i think he means he has been crying at her grave? thats what i get anyway :) thanks, this is my first comment btw :) |
