I think this song can be construed in both ways discussed. Firstly being that it is about having a loved one who died, and secondly, about someone you were in a relationship leaving after an EXTENDED period of time (AKA not being dumped after 2 months, etc). I'm sure the true meaning from Keith Anderson's point of view is about losing someone close to him. Having said that, I still believe the song is up for interpretation. Whenever I hear it, I can't help but think of a relationship with a girl I had in college. We were together for a long time, and it fell apart. And I still miss her. |
