I had a really hard time trying to understand the prose in this song. There is so much symbolism and strange, morose metaphors. Thanks for the good explanations. America means a lot of different things to many people from the countless vantage points and in order to be more united as a people we need to try to understand and get past many point of views. I can say that this is an excellently written piece. |

while the intended meaning might have been about a guy/girl relationship,If you're a Christian, you can't help but wonder if God isn't thinking the same things. I think this subjectiveness makes the song more meaningful. As a writer, I don't wish the meaning of my songs to be black and white, I want my listeners to hold true to their own interpretation of the song. So I find these words just as powerful, if not more, from the spiritual view. |
