I have always interpreted to be about a relationship where he has fallen deeply in love with his partner. It's about the contrasting thoughts between the two. One saying "Ready to reform", the other saying "Don't let it form us. As the song progresses it's like the relationship is progressing as well. At the end he's eventually asking if it is in fact "Ready to reform". But you know it could also just be about the freaking crazy animals in the middle of Wisconsin. Haha peace. |

I don't think this is right but it's just the way I interpreted the song. I actually thought it was about a father being divorced from his wife. This divorce had a thorough impact on the father and he did horrible things to the children. One of them (the middle child) can't take it anymore so he leaves. I think at the end, the boy comes back when he is grown up. His father is still there and sits in his chair and asks the question, where had you gone? Let me know what you think :) |
