Corporate America - GAH!! This hasn't anything to do with that. It is about life shaping you as you grow - Getting the balance right so you don't become a greedy right-winger or a liberal nut-job. 'always remain ultimately selfish' is a comment on how at our core human beings are selfish. Self preservation is a strong instinctual drive - but we can learn to be compassionate, concerned and caring. Be Responsible, respectable but leave your self a little gullibility so you can still keep an open mind. It is kind of almost like a speech someone would give at a commencement and I agree it is one of DM best |

Not Environmental Issues - that line is a prequel to People are people. This is an awesome song - Take a map and tear it to pieces and let the kids put it back together - they just do it without regard to borders or cultures or religions. I think it is about the youth taking over and remaking the world - Could it get any worse? (I guess we know the answer to that now) |

This Song has to be one of my Favorite TFF songs. I think it is about the quiet, lonely person who carries a sad burden in their heart. The person in the office you never talk too; The person at church you see every week but never talk too; the neighbor you see walking to the mail-box but have never acknowledge. She seems fine and has everything she needs but she is alone and in need of love and friendship. She needs someone to talk too but she is too shy or too modest or simply doesn't feel worthy of any ones time. Love the guitar in this one. |

I love this song. In the 80's when so much synth pop was around it was awesome to hear a nice guitar drive song. I can relate to this song too much. Too often I get overwhelmed with the need to figure stuff out and make things better. So many of us are broken and being tossed about. Sometimes I still feel anger for things from my Youth that all these years later still burn in my gut - Funny How Time Flies....... |

Lots of interesting ideas about this song. My take is that it is simply about how people want control of their part of the world. Yeah it could be for some about World Domination but I think it could be just as much about personal Freedom and the right to control your own destiny. -My Own Design, My Own Remorse - Do what I want and pay the consequences. -Indecision married to Lack of Vision - He doesn't like it when people can't take a stand and have a reason or a purpose behind it. This also can be from a personal level all the way up to world leaders. And then there is the Room where the Light won't find you... I think this is that place in our minds where we keep our secret desires. The Place we shelf our dreams and our hope that we are afraid to risk bringing out to the open where others can trample on them. |

I think this song describes the feelings of trying to recover after a betrayal. The Person wants to make things better but no matter what is done the pain and the anger and the scars get in the way. "There's only need, I love your need, So much I'm losing me, I cannot see the reason for the Pain" He is trying so hard to make things better, to be what she wants that he is losing himself and cannot see why the pain won't stop. He is trapped in the fear of losing his love so the he cannot grow, cannot move and tension, or worry is always there - he is afraid that if her angers her, if he does anything that she doesn't like she will leave. No matter what he says or how he forgives (or apologizes) she doesn't truly hear - rendering him speechless. She use to bring happiness to him but now the scars and the pain is all that he feels. |
