Oh such a beautiful song. One of my favourite songs, I love it. Watching the video, a baptism scene, it seems to take on an added religious importance. It's as if he's taunting a lover with the fact that her lies, her transgressions will be given back to her by someone higher up. Such a good song! |

| This is what we do in our everyday lives. We carry on. Through strife and upset, we must continue to sing. This is such a hopeful track, I love it. Thank heavens we have Patrick Wolf! | |

| Thomas Dybdahl – One Day You'll Dance For Me New York City Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Read simply, this song could just be about Dybdahl's own experience of New York's hard exterior. Perhaps as a travelling musician he found it difficult to get a break there, but he continued. This song is about the triumph of human spirit. We all get knocked-down, we all suffer regrets and trials, but we pick ourselves up and carry on. New York is supposed to be an unforgiving, hostile place and from this we can draw parallels to our own lives. Not only does it have lovely lyrics (I am a huge fan of Dybdahl's lyrics) but it has depth, beauty and soul. Joie de vivre. |

| IAMX – Spit It Out Lyrics | 14 years ago |

This song is so very powerful. Taken literally it talks about the entanglement of lovers, of becoming absorbed in someone to the point that you cannot separate yourself from them. It's a dark song, too, he becomes a drug "When you're in pieces / Just follow the echo of my voice / It's okay / Tune into that frequency / Don't fight your reflex" - it's a hypnotic song which calls to that person and begs them to follow and trust. It also paints a bleak picture of love, perhaps a love that has gone sour. Talking the talk and communicating sounds cynical, as does the "pleasure for pleasure" bit. Someone uses the other for pleasure because it "eases the consequences". An absolutely amazing song. |

| IAMX – Volatile Times Lyrics | 14 years ago |

What a fantastic song from a great album! I believe this song has a strong message about uncovering truths, when he says "I just want to turn the lights on / In these volatile times". It's a story of discovery, searching for meaning, searching for life but finding nothing more than artificial "slum religion". We do live in volatile times, and Chris has made references before to the superficial nature of the music business. I *love* this track! |
