I think DRRock is right....gene is worried about being a sellout or a hack. "I'm all staged, it's all an act I'm really scared that I may fall back on the abstract It'd be exactly where I'm at" he probably wants to write serious songs but he's afraid of how people may react so as a defense mechanism he writes weird and funny songs. his fallback is the abstract weird songs, when this song, and most of this album for that manner, are pretty serious sounding-at least in terms of production. but especially toward the end of the album, he's getting more serious with his songwriting. |

does anyone else think those cool guitar parts that pan left to right and left again after the first chorus (and they do it repeatedly at the end of the song when the drums start changing) sound sort of like an electric screw driver or some sort of drill? homme said in an interview that the album sounds electrical, like a construction worker and the title along with those guitar parts were the first connection i made. also, anyone know what he means by 'white boy dressed up like a figure drawn inside a toilet on the wall'? |
