| Mindless Self Indulgence – Uncle Lyrics

|
Bullies make victims say "Uncle" to indicate the victim has been bested, usually before the bully proceeds to inflict pain upon said victim, so that's why the Uncle bit fits the song's plotline. |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – On It Lyrics

|
It's quite clear what this is about...
It's about being caught up in the fame of the music industry whilst struggling to hold down a relationship, but not with a partner- the relationship with the fans.
"On it"- trying to make music that will suit the audience and sell well
"You are so good so far"- the fanbase is stable right now but are fickle
"I'm gonna be the one with my face in a magazine"- gaining fame
"I'm gonna be the one I have to face"- fear of selling out just to suit a very fickle mainstream audience
It seems to be the theme in the album "If", because the song "Mark David Chapman" has a similar sort of meaning; the fact many bands don't seem too original nowadays. |

| Dance Gavin Dance – Happiness Lyrics

I only listened to DGD without learning the whole story about the group's politics. And when I did, I was like, "Oh, Jonny left? I'll see what they did without him" and then realised, "Wait- all the stuff I've been listening to is a mix of Jonny and Kurt? ... THEY SOUND THE SAME!!"
Why do people care about Jonny so much? They've the same vocals! I can't hear any difference! |

Urgh, I can't listen to this song, the horrible whirling effect is awful and gives me a headache. Not to mention it's pretty blank, the lyrics are weak for a DGD song and the vocals are plain. |

| Eyes Set to Kill – Her Eyes Hold The Apocalypse Lyrics

It's about a girl being bad for the singer, but she always comes back every time they break up and he goes along with it, even though it causes him pain and messes up his life- something like his own personal Apocalypse every time, as it were. |

It's a song about being unable to show your true feelings, or at least that's what it means to me. |

| Darling Violetta – Candy Jones Lyrics
|
|
The real Candy Jones was an American it-girl personality, and she believed herself to have been under mind control by the US secret services to do missions for them at one point... This song appears to have taken a load of inspiration from her there and used her story as role-play with a lover by getting them drunk! |

Many Green Day songs are about Billie-Joe's exes of girls he's met, so Olivia strikes me as potentially a song in the same vein. |

| Art Brut – Really Bad Weekend Lyrics

Instead of cheating on his girlfriend, the guy ends up just falling asleep without actually doing anything with the other woman... Not because of guilt, but because of fatigue. It's kind of sad, in a way... |

| I Hate Sally – Song Of Deborah Lyrics

The meaning is obviously about the way drug culture is portrayed... For instance, Los Angeles is reknowned for being both a celebrity-ridden city and also for having an underground drug network, and how it's become glamorous for one to be high constantly. "The story of desperate, on drugs, the girl almost made it, the girl almost won" - the character featured in this song became addicted and died after falling into the wrong lifestyle in Los Angeles, even though she thought she'd get the brilliant showcased jet-set life. And the line "You can't ask Alice" reffers to an infamous book called Go Ask Alice portrayed as a diary, chronicling the life of a drug addict *spoiler* who ends up dead from an overdose. |
