This song, as with any, is open for interpretation. Here's mine. The man they captured and "pissed" on is a man who created and detonated the IED who killed that soldiers 4 best friends in the world, and the 15 innocent civilians shopping for food for their home. The woman he had to take out because the nature of the war being fought, unfortunately has used the same ploy more than a few hundred times to kill more, was a last resort. To me the song is about a soldier who feels the worst of what he has been through, and thinks he is wrong but the people see a hero who did what most are afraid to do, make a difference. For all you people who speak through ignorance... this song as with any song, is open for interpretation. i get from this song that hes looking at one story among many. let me give you mine. the man they captured whom they "pissed" on is a man who created the IED who killed the 4 best friends the soldier had in his life. the woman whom he felt was a danger to himself or his comrades he unfortunately had to kill because the war being fought against cowards who use women and children to be a worthy weapon, worthy of the compassion any human should have but used to destroy anyone who stands for good in this world. its easy for you to sit back, be a critic, a monday morning quarterback but in the end, the only thing you know about what is going on is through the media not through personal experience, and unfortunately the man singing this song is in the same boat as you.
