Smash Mouth – Walkin' On The Sun Lyrics 12 years ago
um, smoking pot is not a fad. it's actually one of the healthiest things you can do for your body, if you'd take time to fact check, rather than believe greedy government smear campaigns.

i agree, except that he wants to buy the world a TOKE. we'd all be a lot better off smoking marijuana, and i remember him shying away in an interview back in the day when someone asked what a "toke" was.

"when you send troops somewhere, you're sending real live people off to kill other real live people--many of them younger kids--and they're gonna be going through hell."

this is like a dagger through my heart. and it makes me feel like a superior person-- not above the troops, but above the ones who are sending them to their deaths. i really don't feel most of them know what they're getting themselves into.

"then have the government that they dutifully served for years cut their benefits."

this is where our problem lies. the U.S. reign as superpower is coming to an end.

i've always took it to be the fall of saigon. but on another note, i've done more drugs than i'd like to mention, and i sure as fuck would be passing the hash pipe-- not knowing which heartbeat will be your last...

he wasn't a bad guy before the war. and it's not just vietman. my cousin's cousin went to iraq, and if you come up behind him... he;s developed this reflex where he just takes you down. he can't even cantrol it, he's so traumatised. all these army commercials, give you a better life, blah blah... but not one i'd want to live. :(

i think i just found a new best friend, linhtien . :)
i'd watch that movie right no, but i can't do gore.
i've never heard a billy joel song i didn't like. there aren't many singers/bands out there, like that.
and like you, i rarely comment. times likes this, i just need to.
thanks for that post. i feel so alone in my anti-war believ. it is now 2011. we as a planet, CANNOT afford another war.

all right. i agree with evermn's 2nd paragraph. however... how do i put this delicately, where 17million feet don't want to kick my ass?

they are a quadrillion times braver than i, and i'd never dispute that. i also don't believe that the world would be sunshine and rainbows without military and wars. but by god, i HATE them. we have the war on terror going on right now. i was pregnant with my first child when we went to war, and i LOST it. i'm so thankful that i won't be here in 300 years to see what our race has done to mother earth.
saw another baby face on the news the other night, dead. when i think about the folks i know who all went out and join the forces in '01-02... Jo and A were 19, Ja & A were 18, Je was 20, and K is 26, offhand. my step-dad and ex-boyfriends all enlisted straight out of high school. and my sister's boyfriend is 23 or 4 and all set to join. it makes me ill. i don't lay blame on them, but i hate that they go. rewards for bravery, awesome... but to me, that also kind of feels like a reward for murder.

shayna, my father-in-law came back from 'nam a psychotic heroin addict, who tried to kidna; and kill my husband when he was 5, in 1982. he's now dying in his 60s, from related issues. all war makes me cry. but my awe is different-- i'm in awe that they would go at all. i mourn the loss of EVERY soldier-- american, or enemy. a life is a life. no disrespect to anyone at all, just my thoughts. peace to all, and may none of you ever have to endure these horrors.

ooh, i like that too. was reading the reply about chills down the spine at the live madison square garden performance... i don't think you necessarily have to see it live (though i am beyond bummed that my dad went to the last tour and i didn't!!). i was born a couple years after this song came out and have been listening to it my entire life. i watched it on youtube a minute ago, and cried, and it just lit a fire inside me. i loathe war. it has killed a piece of my soul. nobody has the right to decide who lives or dies. i have no more words, save for a few very offensive ones. but pencilneck, i like that interpretation. that's basically it, whether billy meant it or not.

i cannot figure out why they are not more popular than they are-- every song i have ever heard from them, i have LOVED, lyrics AND melody.

i don't have anything to add to the other 300 interpretations, just that i live like half an hour from their home city, and have managed to still miss EVERY concert they have played since 1998. i think it may just not be in my destiny to see them.

jeromy, you aren't the only one (talking to you a year later now, *snicker*)... i got a kick out of the first two posts, and then avantgarde sent me over the top, as well. Led-mao!

some of the funniest things i have *ever* heard have been comments from people on this website, arguing about what songs are about...

but what the F is it with people who were posting at the beginning of the millennium just coming to EVERY song and saying, "wow, this is my favourite song!" and NOTHING else? nobody really started interpreting anything until like two years after the site was up.
