It is about a school shooting, but I think the first two parts show the cause being PTSD from being a soldier taking lives and unable to cope with it. For me, that makes it flow perfectly. |

Opinions on the new version on "Days Go By"? It's still great, but the original can't be touched. Though, I'm sure if I'd heard this one first, I'd like it more. It's not even that different: few added words here and there ("go on and pull the shades"; "all of the things you say"), harmonies in some spots, an added guitar track, etc. Yet the basics that made it great are still there, esp. the main guitar chords and the lyrics. Even how Dexter sings is is basically the same. I can see why they redid it - 20 years since Ignition (and this is no doubt its best song), a chance to give a pre-Smash classic the exposure it deserves. The original had that attitude to it, that extra bite in Dexter's voice since whatever the song's about was fresh in his mind. |

I agree - great song, chorus sticks in my head. One of the few instances of bonus tracks not only being worthy of the extra $, but even better than some of the regular album songs. |
