"I'm not gonna fall down today/ instead i will buckle my knees and sway/ against sweet memories" this is talking about how he's going to be strong today, and not lose himself completely in the memories of his past relationship, and instead hold on as much as he can, but he's only able to "buckle his knees and sway". "i've gotta get out of here today/ there is too much room in this bed where i lay/ the street buzzes for me/ below, buzzes for me" I think this is talking about how he's been cooped up in his house for so long, that he needs to get back into life again, and the street below is his life, and he needs to be a part of it again. "And if the breeze blows me down/ i'll take my time to come around/ but i'm not out/ oh, i'm not out" This is where it gets a little tricky, but this is what i think. I think he's stuck in between two worlds, the one where his past significant other is, (above), and the one where he considers his world to be (below). And he's saying that if his significant other lets him down again, he'll "take his time to come around", meaning he'll ignore it and get on with his life, "but he's not out", so he hasn't given up, and he doesn't want his significant other to give up either, he's just not going to let it torture him anymore. "Wish i could pull you down today/ from that storm high up that's taking you away/ what would you say to me?" He wants to know what would happen if he could pull his significant other down from this higher world that they've been caught up in, down to where he is again, and as it clearly states, wants to know what they'd say to him. "And i'm sure that i am tangled up in things you said out loud to me, so recklessly/ and it's easier to sing the things i wanna say to you, so i'll sing you're losing me my love" He knows he's caught up in small things that his significant other said without knowing the full meaning of their words, (perhaps they said "i love you"), and they were said "so recklessly", so they may not have meant what they said, or understood what they were saying. and so now he's saying "you're losing me my love" as in, if his significant other is going to continue to push him away, he's going to go away for good. he doesn't want it, obviously, but it's happening, and he doesn't know if that's what his significant other wants as well. sorry, i know this is way too long and really boring, but i needed to type it out. it kinda defines my life right now, and it's my favorite song right now. it matches perfectly with everything going on in my life, and it's just freaky when songs do that, like the artist literally wrote the song for your specific situation. it makes sense in more ways than i could explain in this comment. again, my bad for the waste-of-space-ness of it. hope it helps someone besides me. |
