The singer of this song is a selfish domestic abuser. It amazes me that people think this is a romantic love song. The singer is leaving on tour again, tells his girlfriend "There's so many times I've let you down, So many times I've played around. Not a few times, "so many times," but now as he is leaving he tells her, "I tell you now, they don't mean a thing" What a narcissistic liar he is, to his innocent girlfriend that loves him. But that's not all he has the gall, the nerve to tell her, that she should wait for him to come back when he will bring her a wedding ring but but get this "I Don't know when I'll be back again" So instead of inviting her to come along, or to get the ring now and marry her before he leaves, he says I want you to remain in suspended limbo because when and if I come back I will bring you a "wedding ring" not necessary marry her but bring her ring. This is not a love song it is a song about a horrible man and his abused girlfriend, believing his lies. Amazing. |
