David Gray – Kathleen Lyrics 15 years ago
I may be completely off the mark here and I don't care. What I picture is a man who has lost everything since the love of his life passed away. Since her death he has been wondering around aimlessly mourning her. He decides he can't go on without her any longer and talks himself into jumping, "just close your eyes it won't take long, won't hurt a bit". He is up on a bridge and watching the cars pass by below him. When he jumps he does not die instantly. He is seeing and feeling everything around him as he dies, "My rushing blood was a river, my eyes two stars. My blowing hair all a'quiver, whispering fields of grass, that murmurs as you pass, oh my darling, Kathleen"- his last thoughts are of her. So, so sad. I love it.
