Jethro Tull – Locomotive Breath Lyrics 11 months ago
In a 2021 interview Ian Anderson explained what the song was about: "Yes, yes. It was about population growth but it was talking about what we might now call globalization. So it is about the population and its place in the expanding capitalist world that we live in. It might have seemed a difficult subject back then. It’s a difficult subject today, people don’t like to be reminded of the harsh reality of overpopulation.”

“Everything follows on from that, everything from the pandemic crisis we’re in, you can trace that back to the effect of a huge population that travel, the spread of the disease, everything to do with climate change… You can see how that is vastly exacerbated by population size. So pretty much everything that we might fear and be concerned with in terms of its effect on our great grandchildren."

Electric Six – Gun Rights Lyrics 1 year ago
I think this is a song about a man whose gun rights have been violated. He just wants his gun rights back so he can clean his gun (something he really enjoys doing) and then go shoot out all the lights with it.

The Cars – Moving In Stereo Lyrics 2 years ago
I think the song is very specifically about dealing with the new found pressure/tension/anxiety of becoming a rock star.

"Life's the same, except for my shoes" is him trying to convince himself that he's the same person he always was except that he can afford an expensive pair of shoes now.

But of course, he's not. He's on the verge of a nervous breakdown trying to deal with all of it.

Electric Six – It Ain't Punk Rock Lyrics 13 years ago
I can shed a little light on what the lyrics mean. The number eighty-eight stands for Heil Hitler as the letter 'H' is the eighth letter of the alphabet. This makes the line "Why are all the white people filled with hate?" make a little more sense.

Maybe the song is making fun of white supremacist punk rock bands. I dunno.

Bad Religion – 21st Century (Digital Boy) Lyrics 15 years ago
Is the line "Symbolized bar code quick ID" correct? I've listened to it as carefully as I could and it sounds like he's saying "similzed" instead of "symbolized." Yes, it's a real word and could make sense when used in this context.

similize

1. To liken; compare.
2. To take pattern by; copy; imitate.
3. To use similitude.
