Well, i find the meaning rather obvious. From begining to end here: The narrator (idk if its necessarily about the singer herself, though it does seem very much like it) "listened in" so obviously, snooped, or overheard a conversation, obtaining information "im guilty of this, you should know this" the person (more than likely a significant other) should know her enough to know she has a habit of doing it, or, should have known she knew. It is clear that she had been cheated one way or another. "i know the feeling, know your leaving" she knew the relationship was falling apart. The chorus "calm down im calling - " I would imagine means she is confronting the cheater/problem, and they are probably alarmed, knowing that she has a sensitive heart, and could possibly do something dangerous to herself or something, and she is letting them know she has merely considered it,and she will be around if they want to see her. "i really like to cry, nobody likes me maybe if i cry" Hints that she has self destructive behavior, like those people who are always in abusive (wether it be physical or emotional) relationships, they like the feeling of getting hurt (maybe she doesnt necessarily like it, maybe she merely wonders if the problem is that she likes it) AND she feels very alone (as most people do in a heart break). "Spelled out your name and list the reasons pain of heart" sounds like she was considering the pros and cons(hence the title) of the relationship, and there was obviously more pain than love. "Dont call back, i imagine you, and i was distant, non existant" hints she realized she wasnt there for this person, it makes sense that they did what they did (but it still hurts, her, which she doesn’t say, but the rest of the song tells me this). "Ill follow suit and laid out on my back imagine that” clearly means that she wants the other person to consider how it would feel if she had slept around too. “a millon hours I think of you and think of that:” obviously means she cant stop thinking about all of these things, its tearing up her mind. “encircle me, I need to be taken down” tells me she is asking for help, she needs the people who love her to surround her and stop her from hurting herself. |
