I wish there were more comments here, this song is so beautiful. Anyway, CicadaGhost might be right but after thinking about it a bit I had another idea. This might be about someone who kills herself by crashing her car. A lot of what was said in the other comment still fits. The red stage is because of the blood. And though I also think the green lights might be from medical devices, I think they are from the LEDs on them. They seem bright and blurred to her because it's dark and she's dying. She couldn't take life anymore, wearing a figurative mask, pretending to be happy. That's why she smiles to herself as she knows she's dying while medics are trying to save her, blood and pieces of glass all over her, crowds watching. I was wondering why she'd be sitting still with her hands out the window, that's what got me thinking of her sitting almost lifeless in the seat of her car after a crash. I might be totally off track and rambling here. It's just a thought that seemed to fit pretty well. Also, are their songs so easy to understand? I find them kinda cryptic. And maybe they even are supposed to be, so everyone would find their own meaning in them. |

thank you, beautifully put, it makes lot of sense to me. I know 6 years late but I'm here because of their new masterpiece anthology and I had to find the connection between this song and his wife. it perfectly makes sense this way, though I believe there are almost always various interpretations to Thrice's songs. did anyone else think of Platon's Allegory of the Cave by Silhouette Lies? Also a lot of other beautiful interpretations of this and other songs on here. thank you all, many of them made me appreciate Thrice even more! |

just recently the line "When all's said done we wake up on the floor" hit me hard. at that moment the song meant to me we're always fighting and arguing, as if we are inebriated, on things that really mean nothing and are completely mindless if you think about it. it seems everyone loves to fight without thinking first (especially on the internet). from small arguments to wars, hopefully we all wake up someday when we slept it all of and realize how pointless those fights all were and we'll start caring for actually important things. that was my meaning for that moment... and forgive me my probably bad english. |
