or it could be focusing on the people that play the evangelist and their role in today's society if there were no organized religion. since there would be no churches, the place to "soap-box" would be the roof of his own home. science would have taken the place of God, and scripture would just be modern science. with all the controversy these days surrounding religion AND science (separately), i interpret this as justifying the necessity in our society for religious "fanatics", else persecutors would have only science to turn to,judge, and mock. i could be wrong, but this is MY interpretation. |
