| The Essex Green – Don't Know Why (You Stay) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think this song has everything to do with breaking away from someone or something that has control over you. Maybe a bad relationship that has drawn out just a little too long? It's about recognizing the opportunity to move on and taking the chance on that opportunity. The song is well written and well hidden in meaning.. It could be anywhere but I think I'm on the right track. "Stepping along the hum of the sidewalk, A marionette, a slave. Your legs are wood and tied to the city. Who has final say" = being controlled "If your silver wing is stuck on horizons, Catch it when it goes. Or they'll take a piece and pull back the curtains and there's nothing left but your clothes. = Seeing the opportunity to get away and taking it. "This match made was made in a moment but now that moment's passed" this is my favorite line in the song. I love it. to me it means that you shouldn't stay content in one spot if you're no longer happy there. Think about it.. How many relationships start off great and then fizzle out - boredom, complacency... "Match made was made in a moment" - yeah, that first moment when everything is exciting and new... That moment does pass oh too quickly! |
