| You guys are partially correct. This song is about her seeing a darker side of someone she loves, but I don't think it's an abusive relationship or a cheating lover. In fact, I'm not sure it's a lover at all, but perhaps a very close friend. She is trying to cope with a darkness that has overcome this person she loves, a darkness like intense depression or drug abuse. She's realizing that she can't fix this person all by herself, and likewise, the love that she has for this person can fix him/her, and that this person must fix him/herself. She's realizing that she needs to let this person go before his/her darkness consumes her own life. | |

| I have another interpretation for "The chasm isn't fixed yet." I took the word "fixed" to mean "made permanent." For me, to say the Chasm isn't fixed yet is to say it doesn't matter how much you've sinned, what you've done in the past, it's not too late to change your life. The gap between those who are saved and those who aren't isn't permanent. Anyone can change their life by giving it to Jesus. | |
