| Santigold – My Superman Lyrics

This is an amazing song... Personally, I think it's Santigold's best on her record. It's so strong, yet her lyrics make her seem so weak. To me, it's a about a guy (maybe a past lover?) that she can't get over. He'll always be her Superman, whether she wants him to be or not. He'll always amaze her, even though he's done some terrible things to her. I love the line "You've got to let me get by, Bless your soul, You get by, Take me along". It shows that Superman has moved on from her, but she hasn't moved on. She knows she has to move on/get by, but she still wants to go along with Superman. Very well done, Santi. |

Wow, I really never saw this song the way other people see it. I had such a clear interpretation of it, so it's interesting to see all these perspectives.
That being said, I strongly feel it's not about a friendship. It's about a relationship. It's about growing apart from your lover, but still WANTING to be in love with them, but realizing that the love is gone. She said "It's too bad you're so sad, I wish you could have had what I had.." This, to me, means that Gwen was happy in the relationship. She wishes that her lover saw their relationship SHE sees it; blissful, happy. But he could only see the bad, was complicated ("You've had some scary days" -- meaning this person battled some scary thoughts about Gwen, their relationship, etc.) and so forth. That's why Gwen apologizes at the end. The last line "I'm Sorry" is.... I mean... no words. A truly beautiful way to end the song. She wants her lover to know that she's sorry, and she hopes that they know it's not her fault that the love disappeared.
Sorry if that makes no sense. It makes too much sense to me. I can't see this song any other way. But everyone has their unique interpretation which gives the song a personal meaning to them. |

| The Raveonettes – Here Comes Mary Lyrics

Out of all of the Ravonettes songs I have (and I'm pretty sure I have every album/EP they've come out with), I think this is their best song. Ever.
It's so cinematic and dark, yet the harmonies are so sweet. It does remind me a lot of West Side Story, maybe Mary is a reference to "Maria." |

| Lady GaGa – Heavy Metal Lover Lyrics

I agree with distiller666, I think this is one of the best songs off the album. Overall, I think Born This Way was a letdown, but there are some tracks (like Heavy Metal Lover, Government Hooker, etc.) that are truly amazing and should've been released as the singles, instead of songs like "Judas" or "Hair." But getting back to the meaning of the song, I think it's interesting to think that the line "I could be your girl.....rule the world...etc." is addressed towards her fans; but I really don't think that's the case here. She loves her fans (it's all she fucking says), but I think the line (especially in context, musically the song is very sweet and mellow when she sings it) is about her Heavy Metal Lover--Luc Carl. It almost sounds like a plead.. she knows how big and famous she is, yet she still worries/wonders who will love her when she's the Queen of the world.
Sorry for the rant. That's just my opinion. Great record. |

I mean the song is great, but there is NO argument that the guys in Oasis are actually decent human beings. I know people who have personally worked with them, and it's also common knowledge, that they're absolute assholes. I do believe the Beatles are a little overrated, but I think Oasis thinks they're a LOT better than they really are. |

No--it's a tribute to her record label, CherryTree Records. They ask every artist to incorporate the word "cherry" in their song. That's where "chery cherry boom boom" comes from, which can be heard in a bunch of other GaGa songs. |

My friend and I have a theory - that Lady Gaga really MEANS "hard." If you look at the second verse, she says "I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be", which makes NO sense. It would make more sense if she said "HOT pair."
Therefore, I think Lady Gaga wanted us to interpret this as word switch - if you replace "hard" with "hot" and "hot" with "hard" in both of those places, the song works better, and is much sexier. It also sounds more accurate when you listen to the song. |
