Well the first two lines say he's married and 'settled down' implies kids. This song definitely sounds stalkery. Then she tried to guilt him with 'I'd hoped you'd see my face; and that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over'. And when that fails she gets a bit huffy and says "Nevermind, I'll find someone like you" which sounds like 'I can't have you, so I'll find someone that looks and acts and sounds like you and pretend I'm getting pounded by you instead of them. Imagine this poor man, having a nice evening with his family, then all of a sudden this crazy chick comes around trying to get back with him after years of not speaking. He's probably being 'shy' and 'holding back' because he's terrified that she's going to stab him or shoot him. |

| It's obviously about addiction. Whether it's addiction to a drug or a person doesn't matter. Basically, this addiction takes over the victim's life, becoming their everything. Their reason for being. And even though the person is losing their freedom and independence, they don't care, because it feels too good to let go. Eventually I think the addiction leaves the victim in a state of either physical death or spiritual death. But the victim can't see it that way, because whatever they were trying to escape from is too painful to face again. | |
