The Smashing Pumpkins – Spaced Lyrics 11 years ago
I used to be so drawn to this song and the title of spaced (I was sp_aced on Netphoria and SPC) but I wasn't really sure why. As I've grown up and into my career (counselor in training) I've learned about PTSD and I've learned that one of the symptoms is dissociation or "spacing out". People can be in their bodies physically but mentally they are somewhere else completely. This could have originally started as a self defense mechanism by the mind when experiencing child abuse or other traumas in which a child couldn't escape. I speak from personal experience. I used to wonder why I was so fascinated with space, spaced, astronauts, outer space, space rock, etc. I now understand why. The part that makes me think it's about abuse too is the last couple of sentences "I was born whole, fractured divided shattered into a billion piece puzzle, a million piece jigsaw puzzle with no this and no that". People who experience abuse/trauma often feel like they've lost out on their childhoods or innocence etc and they need to mourn those losses. Those last lines kind of address that to me. Anyway these are my thoughts. If anyone wants to chat more about this you can reach me at coldheartradio@gmail.com. :)

Yo La Tengo – Today Is The Day Lyrics 13 years ago
One morning I woke up and I heard a voice whisper into my mind, "you're going to meet him today" so I put on this song. Sure enough I met someone later that day and we exchanged numbers. We dated for two months (my first time dating) but it didn't work but we ended up being really good friends (he's one of my best friends now actually). However, when I look at the lyrics I think it's about a breakup and one of the people in the relationship always remembers that person on a specific day...maybe their anniversary or maybe their break up date...or another important day of theirs...

Yo La Tengo – Our Way to Fall Lyrics 13 years ago
I think there's multiple meanings in the title. He mentions Summer so maybe the couple meets in summer and develop their relationship until it becomes Fall. Its also of course about falling in love with the other person but I also think the title is playing around with the whole "falling" part of falling in love, like you sometimes have to clumsily stumble through some awkward moments with the person you like before you finally get the full fledged love. The couple in the song had their own unique way they "fell" just like every couple does.

Yo La Tengo – You Can Have It All Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this title has a double meaning. I think its from the point of one person telling the other person that they can have their heart and everything else. I think it's also the band telling its fans that we can have it all too like some people think they're not meant to find love or don't deserve love...I think the band is saying that yes you can have great careers and homes and yes love too...you can have everything you could want basically. I guess that's maybe because Ira and Georgia found love and in a sense "have it all".

Camera Obscura – Pen and Notebook Lyrics 15 years ago
Is Marr a person or place?

When I did a search on google this is what I found:
Marr is one of six committee areas in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, bordering Atholl, Badenoch, Gowrie, The Mearns, Banff and Buchan. It has a population of 34,038 (2001 Census). Someone from Marr is called a Màrnach in Scottish Gaelic.

Seeing as Camera Obscura is from Scotland, it kinda fits.
