Wakey!Wakey! – War Sweater Lyrics 14 years ago

War Sweater - noun - often mistaken to be a WARM sweater this nefarious mythical item grants the wearer a warm, protective feeling of superiority all while persecuting or marginalizing others. It is rumored to be easily contructed requiring but a strong dollop of Intolerance, a measure of zealotry, and most importantly the sacrifice of one's compassion (the stronger the sacrifice the more potent the sweater becomes). Beware the zealot without compassion, throughout history, bigots both religious and secular both big and small have perused this garment to....

Five for Fighting – The Riddle Lyrics 14 years ago

i think this is the song in a nutshell:
The old man/(father of the man) in wisdom knows the meaning of life.
The the young boy/(son of the man) in innocence also knows the meaning of life.
The man in his middle age starts off questioning the meaning upon the death of his father (he's in pain). But relearns it from his father's words and more importantly from his son's words and actions.

What's the sense in Life?
Love is the answer. And Joy, Simple Joy. And the Joy of Beauty....etc...

I agree with *Unconscious* who has one of the best interpretation i think.

Five for Fighting – Freedom Never Cries Lyrics 14 years ago

i think the line/phrase "freedom never cries" is best explained by its opposite: slavery and oppression - people always cry/cry out under those circumstances. Since oppression cries; naturally, freedom never cries. (i love the wordplay!!)

We take freedom for granted because if you're free you got nothing to complain about and you can complacently trade in a flag for a guitar (which is symbolic of giving up vigilence of your freedoms in exchange for leisure).

Lionel Richie – Say You, Say Me Lyrics 15 years ago

I'm pretty sure this is a love song- (as many songs are)
The words "I love you" however is never mentioned in the song.
but if you fill it in after each "say you..." "say me..."
then the song suddenly makes sense.
The rest of the lyrics allude to love of a deep friendship sort not the carnal lust type.

Say you
"i Love you"
Say me
"I Love you (too)"
Say it together, naturally
"I Love You"
