Ooh god sorry I don't mean to be spamming, I just unlocked the way the lyrics work. Some parts are there just to sound like a pop love song, but some of the words are really what FOB are trying to tell us. I got troubled thoughts And the self-esteem to match What a catch, what a catch This is true You'll never catch us So just let me be Said I'll be fine Until the hospital or American Embassy True Miss Flack said I still want you back Yeah, Miss Flack said I still want you back Just added in to sound like theyare talking about a lost love I got troubled thoughts And the self-esteem to match What a catch, what a catch True And all I can think of Is the way I'm the one Who charmed the one Who gave up on you Who gave up on you For the pop song They say the captain Goes down with the ship So, when the world ends Will God go down with it? True Miss Flack said I still want you back Yeah, Miss Flack said I still want you back Pop song Ok now it all mixes into each other and you hear the other artists singng phrases. The whole debate about who Donnie and Miss Flack is, is just trying to throw you off track again. I think it's just there to confuse. |

| It's also why they sound different live, a lot of this stuff is edited on a computer, giving it the commercial feeling. To really enjoy FOB you need to hear them live, then you really know who they are. | |

Woah I think I just discovred why Fall Out Boy did a song like this Of course it's very different from their other songs and it reminds me of some heartbroken male pop artist. This makes sense since Fall Out Boy's intention is to be very different while blending into the commercial scene, you need to unravel what their real objectives are. So with this song they have just reconstructed and deconstructed the 'heartbroken male pop artist' song. They have extended the usual length and the lyrics actually mean nothing, FOB are just trying to prove that these songs are designed to make you like them even though you have no idea why you like it. So FOB's words in this song are pretty much gibberish and throws you off track. The lyrics don't match up with this type of song. They sound sarcastic, this would work with a similar atmosphere to 'West Side Smoker'. All the classic signs of a 'heartbroken male pop artist' are in this song but again it's been twisted and changed, yet it is still recognisable as this type of song. Quiet beginning, with pianos, dragging of voice to do oooooooo sounds, repitition of 'back, back, back', chorus of people singing simply words e.g. 'lalalaalalalalalalalalala' etc. But thn it changes, at about 3:30 you assume the song is ending soon, and would possiblynot have noticed the tributes by other artists. But then it actually still carries on and we hear a lot of FOB phrases said by similar bands. This wouldn't have happened in a usual 'heartbroken male pop artist' song, and the point of the other singers on this song is to basically say to us 'look these are the other artists secretly trying to outdo commercial music from right under their noses'. So this song is basically an illustration of how FOB makes fun of the media, there are plenty more obvious examples of this in other songs. I hope that made sense, it made sense to me lol |

| I think this is purposely not the last song because, well, that would be cliched wouldn't it? And we all knowFOB aim to surprise. | |

| I agree with that, but I take it as a good thing. They pretty much voice exactly what I feel about the media, songs brainwash you. And FOB are telling us that, but a lot of people don't realize it, because THEY ARE BRAINWASHED. So to notice what FOB is doing basically shows you really know what's going on and you're possibly a truer fan. | |

Wow I really don't hear "that's all that should matter to you" I hear "And as usual I'm not addicted to you" which fits perfectly with the drug theme. I don't care much for politics so I purely read this as a drug song, and any real FOB fan knows the lyrics are done so that they can mean anything to each individual person. That is why I love this band. So here's my analysis of the lyrics: "wishes bounce me weightless the infrared scope of pointlessness the bulls are sedated and this fight's fixed" The drugs are winning, the person is under their spell "don't feel bad for the suicidal cats gotta kill themselves nine times before they get it right the PA system keeps my heart, heart beating tonight yeah." The first two lines suggest the person s not concerned about overdosing, they're attitude says they won't die from the first overdose (love that metaphor by the way!) I think the PA system is in the airport, which is referenced again later. I think they are wanting to go to another place where there are more/better drugs "oh hell yes i'm a nervous wreck oh hell yes the drugs just make me reset knock once for the father twice for the son three times for the holy ghost." These lyrics make it clear that a lot of drugs are involved, I think they're playing on the religion part, it's actually being mocked. The knocks are secretive knocks on the door of a drug dealer so they know what you want. "come in the water's warm come on like a sugar cube but with a kick in the head like putting wings on lead" They are trying to convince others to take drugs and they are saying nothing can help them now, the 'putting wings on lead' metaphor is great. They may have been unable to pay a dealer money, resulting in the kick in the head, but they don't care. "and your eyes are blockin my starlight i'm the last of my kind that's all that should matter to you/and as usual I'm not addicted to you follow the disorganized religion of my head and we'll never get through customs let's just take off again instead" These lyrics seem to truly be gibberish strung together, of course each line does have meaning, but it's purposely not really related to each other. This shows how disorientated the drug addict is. Now they realize they not going to get onto the plane so they run off some where else. I assume they have also spent this whole night with no drugs, which explains the mixed up lines. "got my degree in the gutter my heart broken in the dorms of the ivy league" Again illustrating how screwed up they are. The screaming at the end, and in fact the tone of the whole song sounds chaotic. It really makes you imagine the drugs pumping in the persons veins while saying these words. (not saying FOB does drugs, they are just an outlet to make a situatiom known, in this case a drug addicts story.) I may be right or wrong, but with FOB it's impossible to ever really be correct, there are supposed to be various interpreations. |
