I haven't read any of the earlier comments, but I feel that this is about the battle between good and evil; more specfically, about a prisoner and an enforcer of law. The prisoner is entrapped and imporisoned inside the well, where they can only just see the light. The lighthouse, however, shines the light, or rather it shows people the light. And without the lighthouse, "the ships are gonna wreck"; meaning society will collapse and all hell will break loose. However, while there doesn't seem to be any end for the isolation that the prisoner is confined in "left for dead, heaven is only in my head", there doesn't seem to be any end to the evil that the enforcer is trying to control either, "the lions and the lambs ain't sleeping yet", meaning the innocent are never going to be truly safe. |

"Take a long look for my sake", maybe? For the meaning of the song, the whole set of lyrics sound as if it is about children during times of war, which explains the title. "Country air is good for me, no matter whose side I'm on" sort of makes sense in that context. I'm probably wrong though, this is my first ever post, I don't expect it to be entirely right! |
