I think it tells a story - The beginning they're not together yet. "It's a lottery I can't wait to draw your name" and I think that he might be competing with someone else at the start as well, that might be why he's running out of time? I love the line "if the truth's the worst i could do, then i guess that i have lied" i think this is him not wanting to hurt her so if that means bending the truth a little bit then he'll do it because he loves her. The next paragraph is him missing her, i think maybe he went away "heart at sea" and "i'll be home in a day" seem to suggest this. Again, he talks about being a "month too late" maybe she's carried on seeing someone? or she's got bored of waiting for him to come back The 3rd paragraph seems that she's been away. Maybe he came back and she'd been out, with this other person and he slept on her side of the bed hoping she'd come back? He still loves her though, "opposites always attract" The 4th paragraph might be him finding out about this other guy so she's taken him to the top and let him fall back south. He thought they were in love but maybe now he realises she was just stringing him along. 5th paragraph, they've been talking all night yet he's still considerate of her feelings even after what she's done to him "am I keeping you awake? if i am then just say" and then he says he knows that she's made a mistake but he'll take her back if she stops and just stays with him final paragraph - she can't decide yet, "for now it's too soon for you to say" but for him they'll be "always, always" I love this song, it has some amazing lines in it and I can really relate to it. <3 |
