by the way, the words/phrases she uses in this song are very awesome and ... descriptive? best word i can think of. "Sickening thoughts that Slither... Gluttonous guilt that buried me... Bigoted tongue... illness behind the image... tedious need..." A very powerful song. |

based on chorus i think of this song referring to someone famous or publicly known who people think is good but she knows they're not. i think it has something to do with them going to somewhere like a whore-house. Now this may be wrong but in my opinion, I think the song is about a guy who was addicted to gambling and he once was really rich from it and felt in control: "I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word..." "I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing "Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!" but now his money is all gone and he lost everything. "Now in the morning I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own" Part of the chorus about jerusalem and the other stuff like that are or metaphors of things that have happened and now he feels like they represent what's going on with him. Finally I think the lines: "For some reason I can't explain I know Saint Peter won't call my name" Mean that he feels like a sinner, and that he won't be called into heaven. So yeah. Probably not exactly right. But just a way of looking at this song :) |

In my opinion the song is on her suicide, while it is happening. She hasn't died yet but she's about to and it's too late to take anything back. She is killing herself out of regret. When I listen to the song I imagine her being the one who's been betrayed but it also could be that she has betrayed someone else (perhaps God, as people like to think.). She wants to die but also for God to forgive her, as it is considered a sin to commit suicide -I don't agree with that, but whatever. She is wondering what will happen when this is finally over. This is just my thoughts though. I love the song because it sounds so powerful to me. |

I think it's about: He was leaning on someone for love because they told him they loved him and then they just start leaving him behind but he can't really believe this. Now he is trying to fill the boyd by numbing the pain with drugs but the pain is so emotionly deep the drugs arn't working on the part of him that hurts the most. So he keeps taking more, thinking something will happen. And he keeps taking more, hence it becomes an 'overdose' like in the title. I love this song cause I heard it a few years ago, but forgot the title and couldn't find it again. But I remembered the line "so ill take some more 'Cause nothing is happening" and I finally found it again. I know I relate to this song in some circumstances, which is part of the reason I love it. Awesome song. |
