Excellent song...and open to lots of interpretation. The myth of Icarus is hard to ignore here; the god who tried to escape imprisonment, but whose wings were made of wax that melted when he flew to close to the sun. Wingless, he fell into the sea. Could it be that Nina is singing about the pleasantness/relief of death? She feels so light (heaven-bound) and unburdened (by life). |
