This song is sooo beautiful and I've fallen in love with it all over again but with regards to the meaning... I think that it's about two people who never really liked each other but eventually fell in love with each other. Because the first verse -which I think really just tells you what the whole is about- says: Tale as old as time True as it can be Barely even friends Than somebody bends Unexpectedly The first two lines could mean that the story is such an old story but still very realistic And the rest of the verse is how two people aren't very close 'barely even friends' but then someone changes unexpectedly. After that I think the song is pretty self explanatory. Just a little change Small, to say the least Both a little scared Neither one prepared It's a small change, hardly noticeable but they're both a bit scared about it and neither one of them was prepared for it. Such a beautiful song. Timeless. |

I'm not really sure what this song means but I think it's about saying goodbye. However, I don't think that this song has an actual meaning; if you want to interpret it as song about Bella & Edward go ahead, or if you think that it's about death then that's your opinion :) But I think that if you over analyse it, then you miss out on the beauty of this song and the raw emotion that Sia brings to this piece. Some lyrics shouldn't be dissected but FELT. All in all, this is very beautiful song with amazing instrumentation in the background and singer whose unique voice made it all the more emotional. |
