| The Magnetic Fields – Always Already Gone Lyrics | 11 years ago |

I feel its about someone who's never content with what they have. Not in the sense that, they only want the best and newest things. Rather, someone who is more or less destined to not appreciate what they have, sadly leaving them to an endless rat race. This nature probably keeps them isolated deep inside, and incapable of providing the relationship the speaker has hoped for.. Who now only laments about this soul who is always already gone, always ready to chase another endeavour to live an idealized life while leaving other possibilities behind.. I personally identify with the one who's always already gone, the lyrics remind me of my own mannerisms, thus influencing my interpretation of this track. |

| So, sort of surprised this hasn't been said before, but I interpret this song to be about cheating. It's sort of third person in the sense that, he's singing this song about himself but detached from his actual knowledge. Merritt is like a character performing some monologue about how clumsy they are in not knowing their loved one is unfaithful. Very Funny | |
