I’m confused why these irresponsible kids would be suspected of being the Oklahoma City Bombers because they stole and sold some cows. Any ideas? |

| Of Monsters And Men – Little Talks Lyrics

This is from the group themselves:
THE REAL "LITTLE TALKS": Okay. "Little Talks" is... How we usually make our lyrics is, Raggi and I, sometimes we come up with stories or situations. That one is about a relationship. Sometimes we haven't wanted to give too much away. We like people to read their own things in the lyrics. I guess I could share it. It's about a couple and the husband passed away and it's from the conversation between the two of them. We don't know if she's going crazy or if someone's actually there. We've kind of been inspired by people that lived in my house. This old couple that lived there for 30 years. The woman passed away, so it was kind of different.

The radio edit is totally different than this. The "you're so vain" part isn't in it, nor is the whole verse starting with "Now don't you dare act..." Anyone know where I can find the radio edit lyrics? |

Polska: I agree with everything you say except the first sentence. As someone who grew up in Seattle as I did, you must realize that "mountaineer" makes much more sense. There may be close mountains, but the mountaneers are a huge part of Seattle history and culture. Haven't you heard of the Mountaineer's Club? He says "I am" which makes much more sense with mountaineer than with mountains near. "I am a mountain near the hills and highlands"? Hills and highlands might be near the mountain but you wouldn't say the other way around. A mountaineer would definitely climb those hills and highlands which meshes better with the co-meaning of the song being about a woman. |

Actually, I think there is some ambiguity: is she dead? if so, did she commit suicide or perhaps she was abused to death? They weren't necessarily lovers--perhaps they dated a couple of times but she was more into him than him her. |
