This song is amazing. It's my favorite song of all time. The lyrics are about how when we die, we will never truly fade away because we'll always live through the ones who love us. Chorus translation: We'll stay forever, write us into the infinity I know that forever, somewhere, something will remain, We feel that we are not ready for an end, We'll never die out, you* will carry us to the end of time *the 'you' is the plural form of you, thus indicating that the song is meant for a group of people (for example, Tokio Hotel's fans, or the personal friends and family of the band). It is therefore not about a significant other or any sort of romantic attachment. The song goes further to say "Now I'm no longer afraid of looking forward, because from today on I'll know that we'll never leave." I interpret it as a sort of anthem for the TH fans, because the fans support the band and carry them with us through their music. I think the style of this song is different from this other song. Someone unfamiliar with their songs might not notice it, but there's a vibe to it that is a lot less...processed. Listen to the acoustic version on Youtube - it's so raw. This song was written only by the band, whereas most of their music has been modified or cowritten with songwriters and producers. Wir Sterben Niemals Aus isn't nearly as 'mainstream pop-rock' or as 'emo' (if people have to refer to them as emo) as the rest of the music. I wish they would write on their own more, but it's pretty obvious by the lack of response to this song that without the mainstream input of producers and songwriters, TH would not appeal to nearly as many people. Most of their songs have the band at it's core, but they're buried underneath all the other songwriters and shit. Another song that has only been touched by them is 'Unendlichkeit' which is very, very different from the rest of the Schrei album. |

| I think this song is a serious case of mistranslation. They've said that it's about drugs (and from the original German lyrics, it's very clearly about drug addict) and that for the Scream album, they tried to translate the lyrics without changing any of the song meanings. I think the reference of 'scars' in this song don't refer to cutting as much as they were intended as the emotional and physical effects of the drugs on the girl's family, friends, and self. It's about how the drugs destroyed her life, and how she has no sense of self anymore - her memories are meaningless to her, and she can't bring herself to care about anything except for her next high. As for the chorus, I think the 'closer to the edge...she's not coming back' parts aren't about suicide, they're about how the drugs are physically killing her. 'Darkness and light' is referring to being high. 'Everyone is watching, her arms are so sore, but she doesn't care anymore' is about how the people she used to care about know what she's doing, but she's gone past the point of no return. 'She longs for more and more' - obviously, addiction. | |
