This song is about backstabbing, being backstabbed, trusting and confusion. "Please speak softly, for they will hear us And they'll find out why we don't trust them" she tells a certain person a secret or a reason and she says not to say it to anyone or they'll find out. The person here is probably afraid of falling behind (backstabbing and trusting) "Speak up, dear, cause I cannot hear you I need to know why we don't trust them" this line shows that she needs a more valid reason probably showing that her reason ain't so valid and that her friend also has a reason but keeps it to herself. She's telling her to 'speak up' "Explain to me this conspiracy against me And tell me how I've lost my power" the person here probably has a strong power or leadership and everyone is going against her (being backstabbed)for backstabbing others "Where can I turn? Cause I need something more Surrounded by uncertainty, I'm so unsure Tell me why I feel so alone Cause I need to know to whom do I owe" this part shows she's confused (confusion)not knowing who to trust (distrusting) anymore because of her secrets being revealed about her being a backstabber. Everyone probably went against her and she feels alone and now, she's uncertain who was wrong and right (always thinking she was right) and she needs to know who she made a mistake to. "I thought that we'd make it Because you said that we'd make it through And when all security fails Will you be there to help me through?" this part is also about distrusting. she probably trusted someone she shouldn't have trusted and that person told her that he/she would be with her throughout the end. but, she now doubts if that was still true... | to me, this song isn't exactly literal. It means about doing something unintended or different or something unexpected and well it didn't matter much and it wasn't of a big deal which showed the meaning of the part where she sings "no, i don't even know your name, but, it doesn't matter" and well, it doesn't exactly mean she's like that all the time after one little experiment. She was shocked of trying this thing, but, it really felt good to her. | |

I also have another interpretation, but, it has no relation to the video. You see, Alejandro is the man Lady GaGa loves and well, in their relationship he starts to show different sides of him, 3 of them, the real him/alejandro, roberto and fernando. Gaga became disappointed w/ him since he wanted her to change, too. She starts to lose her love for Alejandro and Alejandro battles w/ himself after knowing that she doesn't like either his 2 sides (Roberto and Fernando) and she starts to hate the true him, too. Gaga shows her feelings of telling him to just forget her and leave her alone. The reference of "What happens in mexico stays in mexico" means that whatever happened between them should just stop there, stay there w/ nothing more, nothing less. She just doesn't wanht to go on anymore and she just wants to be herself, again - addicted to smoking and other bad stuff and not the innocent and good girl alejandro wants her to be (don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, just smoke my cigarette and hush). She then just gives up the relationship leaving each other alone... Well, at least i think so... |

lady gaga is a religous womnan who falls in love with alejandro, but, alejandro doesn't exactly love her the way she loves him or in other words, lust (I know that we are young and I know that you may love me, but I just can't be with you like this anymore, Alejandro). She does it with him and she starts to think it was great and just does it with other men (Roberto & Fernando). She loses her connection to God and she just loses her love to alejandro. Alejandro proposes to her and she accepts and she does it again with either Roberto/Fernando and she feels guilty about doing it and realizes that she doesn't love either one of them which explains the part of the song "She's got both hands in her pocket And she won't look at you Won't look at you She hides true love en su bolsillo" which means that she is hiding true love in her "bolsillo" or pocket if translated. "She's got a halo around her finger Around you" means that the halo around her finger is the ring and around you part means they're now under her control. "You know that I love you boy Hot like Mexico, rejoice At this point I've gotta choose Nothing to lose" it means that her love was as high as the heat in Mexico and the rejoice part meant that he should be happy, but, after doing it w/ him she starts to lose her love for him and she has to choose lust or love and she has nothing to lose since she already losther virginity. The chorus "Don't call my name Don't call my name, Alejandro I'm not your babe I'm not your babe, Fernando Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch Just smoke my cigarette and hush Don't call my name Don't call my name, Roberto" meant that Alejandro she just forget her and their relationship same with Roberto and Fernando. The cigarette part meant that she already lost everything and she just decided to go on drugs to make her happy while slowly dying emotionally and mentally and the hush part meant that she still has a reputation to keep and she just doesn't want either one of them to spill the secret and thus, at the same time keeping the boys from knowing about each other. "She's not broken, she's just a baby But her boyfriend's like her dad, just like a dad. And all those flames that Burned before him, Now he's gotta firefight Gotta cool the bad" means that her BF is like her dad giving her everything she wants in trade of her body (in other words sugardaddy... LOL, right???) and all those flames are the sins and Alejandro is planning to counter them by doing good deeds and showing real love for Lady Gaga and she cools the down all his mistakes fighting against temptation to do it again with her.She returns to God and tries to reconnect with him by swallowing a rosary thinking it might connect them again, but, that's when all 3 boys meet and learn about what happened. The beginning shows them competing for lady gaga and she has to choose one of them and she just can't do it. They all decide they should do it with her one last time, but, this time lady gaga doesn't agree since she already reconnected with God, but, she was forced to. She just gives in and in the end where it shows her lying on the bed with a rosary in her hand showing what she could've become if she just didn't give in and it just goes into a scary face showing that it was already taken by the demons that blocked her. BTW, this doesn't show her real personality and it's just my theory... Thanks! |
