I agree, the lyrics seem to be about alcoholism. But it's more about addiction in general. Stop adding to your own oppression, Time to give in to your own obsession. Those lines could just be about any kind of addiction, sex, drugs, booze, gambling etc. And the "breath before you gulp" line could also be that moment right before a person gives in. That moment of holding their breath and taking that leap. |
