This song spoke to me almost immediately, in the most literal way possible, actually. "Can you lie next to her And give her your heart, your heart As well as your body And can you lie next to her And confess your love, your love As well as your folly" The other night, I was just laying in bed with this guy that I've been in love with for the past year. He confessed that he loves me so much, and it made me so happy. "And can you kneel before the king And say I'm clean, I'm clean" He was seeing someone at this point, and I literally told him, "This would feel cleaner if you didn't have a girlfriend.." I dunno, it's just weird how this fits so perfectly. "But tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with all my heart Oh tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with all my heart" The chorus was kindof a slap in the face for me. He was confessing his love to me, he offered to break up with his girl, and telling me he couldn't stop thinking of me. I just didn't believe it at first. I don't even know what I was thinking, but we got into this stupid, petty fight later on the next morning. "A white blank page and a swelling rage, rage You did not think when you sent me to the brake, the brake You desired my attention but denied my affections, my affections" This kind of highlights both of our frustrations. The next morning, we had some... conflicting issues, haha. This is also kind of a slap in the face, but I was so mad at what he said the next morning! Also kind of weird, what he said completely parallels with "You desired my attention but denied my affections," and it maade me so mad, goddammit!! "Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life" But still, if we just communicate better, we'll work it out. I've loved him for a year, so I'm not backing out now :) Anyways, I just thought it was weird how this song jumped out at me. I was listening to it on grooveshark.com. Today's the fist time I've heard it, too. I dunno... It's just so weird! |

I accidentally came across this song on someone's blog. I've never heard of Stars, and already I've fallin in love with their style of music after listening to a just few of their songs! I love their lyrics and I'm so hooked on Amy's voice!! Ahem.. Well, anyways, this song touches me so much because I can relate to it so well -- especially the last stanza! It interprets how I feel almost exactly!! "There's one thing I have to say so I'll be brave You were what I wanted I gave what I gave I'm not sorry I met you I'm not sorry it's over I'm not sorry there's nothing to save I'm not sorry there's nothing to save" Over this summer, I went into a relationship with a guy where I gave away my virginity even though I don't love him. It's already over, too; he's off to college now and dating someone else. And, well, I'm not sorry about it at all and I don't regret it either. I think that's the main point of the song. That these two kids had a relationship in the past that was very meaningful and for whatever reason they hurt each other and broke it off. And now that they're meeting as strangers later on, they can say that they're glad it happened and that it was what it was. |
