for me, this song seemed to be about winding up at a point in your life where you just feel so broken. when you're so depressed that you feel like you are about to reach you're breaking point. when you don't feel like yourself anymore and you cant really even remember what you were like to begin with. when you continuously hurt yourself in some way no matter how much you try to stop and there's no one who can take the blame for how your life is now. when you feel like everything is your fault. when you actually become afraid of yourself. when you need someone to keep you going, to give you a reason to live, so you're begging this person to just be there, to be a friend to you so you can feel like you're worth something again, like you're actually needed in this world. |

i think that this song is about the best friend of the girl going to the boyfriend of the girl and telling him that basically hes in love with her. telling him that she came to him breaking down and told him she wanted somebody else. and the boyfriend is sitting there the whole time telling him that when she says she wants somebody else that it doesn't mean she wants to be with the best friend, that she only sees him as a best friend and that just because they're best friends doesn't mean he knows her any better than he does because hes the boyfriend and they have a stronger bond and are also best friends. and just because they have fights and the relationship isn't always the best doesn't mean she's gonna run off with the best friend. and the boyfriends also saying that he doesn't understand why the best friend would come to him and tell him this stuff. also the line "when she breaks down and lets you down i hope you know she doesn't mean to." seems to me that when she goes to the best friend he gets his hopes up thinking that since there's a problem and hes there for her that this time she will be with him, but she never is, and every time it hurts him, but she doesn't mean to hurt him, she just needs a shoulder to cry on. |
